I’ve written award-winning sketch comedy for the page, the stage, and broadcast TV and radio. The “School Supply Sketch,” by Marlene Wurfel, was recorded live for CBC’s Irrelevant Show at Festival Place in Sherwood Park Alberta, March 2016 and also featured in “Doing Our Best” (Best of The Irrelevant Show ) at The Edmonton Fringe Festival.

In this culture, media and society article featured in Z Magazine, I critique the Disney princess formula. An impactful article in my authentic voice, it was translated into Spanish, French and Portugese, appeared on Harvard reading lists, and was handed out as training material on cruise ships to help Disney princesses understand that with their power comes responsibility.

“Story Luminary Phyllis ‘Jack’ Webstad and the Story Work of The Orange Shirt” began as a conference presentation at the 2023 (Balitmore) International Digital Storytelling Conference: Radical Listening Story Work for a Just Future. I developed this research further for the MDPI Humanities journal. It is a recent, peer-reviewed, open access scholarly article about the author of “The Orange Shirt” and the power of storytelling for social change.
